Notcoin to release a Web3 game featuring Lost Dogs and Getgems
Web3 game Notcoin will launch a new story-driven game with Lost Dogs NFTs and the Getgems marketplace on The Open Network (TON).
Web3 game Notcoin has unveiled plans to launch a new story-driven game in collaboration with the Lost Dogs NFT collection and the Getgems NFT marketplace, which is built on The Open Network (TON).
This move marks a significant shift for Notcoin, which initially gained fame with a viral clicker game that attracted over 30 million users within two months.
The upcoming game will transition from Notcoin's previous tap-to-earn model to a more immersive and sustainable ecosystem. By incorporating Lost Dogs NFTs as playable characters, the game aims to engage users on a deeper level and foster a sense of community rather than merely functioning as a cryptocurrency-driven platform.
In this new story-driven experience, players will interact with Lost Dogs NFTs, evolving their characters by completing various tasks and making narrative choices. Notcoin's decision to end its tap-to-earn phase on April 1 was driven by the recognition that the model could not support long-term user engagement despite its initial success.
Mad Tail, the chief barking officer of Lost Dogs, highlighted the significance of narrative in games, drawing a parallel to the narrative nature of life itself. Tail explained that, while quick rewards and dopamine hits are currently popular, players are still seeking rich, compelling stories.
In the new game, players will have the opportunity to earn Notcoin (NOT) tokens along with a new in-game token. This development comes despite recent trends showing a decline in NFT sales volumes. Nevertheless, the technology continues to have advocates, as demonstrated by Atari's use of NFTs to grant access to its on-chain arcade, where players can compete on a global leaderboard with their high scores recorded on the blockchain.
Mad Tail also addressed the role of NFTs in enhancing the gaming experience, asserting that they enrich the sense of ownership and interaction within the game. He described this project as an experimental endeavor, where Notcoin is exploring and combining various concepts to create a more engaging and dynamic gaming environment.
