Ronin's New zkEVM Revolutionizes Scaling for Web3 Games

Ronin is launching Ronin zkEVM, a zero-knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) layer-2 chain, built with a modified Polygon CDK from Sky Mavis.

Ronin zkEVM, set for release, aims to expand capacity, engage more users, and support game studio growth, fostering an inclusive environment by integrating diverse gaming experiences across the network.

Ronin plans to integrate a Polygon ZK prover, enabling game studios to launch zkEVM blockchains without developing separate security and consensus mechanisms, advancing blockchain gaming infrastructure and scalability.

Scaling Up for Billions in Transactions

The Ronin blockchain, originally developed for the popular play-to-earn (P2E) game Axie Infinity, has expanded its support to encompass a wider gaming ecosystem. Recent data from the Ronin blockchain explorer indicates that the network now boasts 1.4 million daily active addresses.Zirlin elaborated:

"With 1.5 million daily active users, Ronin stands as the largest gaming blockchain globally. Presently, Ronin can process up to 40 million transactions per day, but we are preparing for a future where we handle 400 million or even four billion transactions, with zkEVM playing a pivotal role in this endeavor."

Ronin's zkEVM drives growth for partner studios like Pixels, which boasts 4.4 million users since joining in October 2023. Zirlin underscores zkEVM's advantages, including cross-chain integration and higher staking rewards, enabling third-party developers to launch layer-2 blockchains on Ronin, enhancing gaming opportunities.

Building a Unified Web3 Gaming Ecosystem

Trung Nguyen, CEO of Sky Mavis, aims to unify gaming by enabling seamless asset transfers, token swaps, and NFT trading across layer-1 and layer-2 games with Ronin zkEVM. Nguyen stated,

 "Our goal is to onboard billions of gamers through this collaboration with Polygon, advancing Web3 gaming." 

Polygon Co-founder Sandeep Nailwal highlighted Ronin's leadership in integrating technology with extensive distribution and user engagement, noting that the Polygon CDK will enhance Ronin's appeal to game studios.
