Over the past year, the global count of cryptocurrency ATMs has surged by 17.8% to reach 38,279, edging closer to its peak of 39,541 in December 2022. In 2024 alone, 2,564 new ATMs were installed, signaling a positive turnaround following a net loss of 2,861 machines in 2023, as reported by Coin ATM Radar. Installations saw consistent growth from July 2023 to May 2024, with a brief dip of 115 ATMs from May to June, followed by a robust rebound of 377 in June.

Leading the market are Bitcoin Depot with 7,543 ATMs, followed by Coinflip with 5,057 and Athena Bitcoin with 2,756 machines. The United States hosts over 82% of the world's cryptocurrency ATMs, while Canada ranks second with 7.7%. Australia has experienced a remarkable surge, increasing nearly to 1,107 ATMs over the past two years, positioning itself to potentially exceed Europe's 1,584 ATMs at the current installation pace.

Other notable countries with substantial cryptocurrency ATM installations include Spain (313), Poland (279), El Salvador (215), Germany (177), and Hong Kong (169). Countries such as Romania, Georgia, Switzerland, Austria, and New Zealand boast over 100 ATMs each. Across the 193 United Nations-recognized countries, 72 now host cryptocurrency ATMs.

During the period from December 2022 to July 2023, there was a notable decline in installations, reaching a low of 32,764 ATMs. BitAccess, a prominent cryptocurrency ATM manufacturer, contributed significantly to this decline, with net installations decreasing by 26% from 9,160 in August 2022 to 6,774 in January 2024. However, the company has since rebounded, increasing its net installations by 1,208 units.
